Pipeline permissions and access

Updated:

In BoldSales, access to the pipelines module is controlled through the roles and permission sets in setup. Admin can define which users can view, edit, or manage pipelines based on their assigned roles and permissions.

Use cases

Restrict access to pipeline data based on user roles

Create a sales team role and ensure only users assigned to this role have access to the pipelines module. Remove pipeline permissions from other roles.

Allow only sales managers to modify or delete pipeline stages

Assign view and edit permissions to sales representatives but restrict the delete option. Assign full create, edit, and delete permissions only to sales managers.

Provide read-only access to certain teams for monitoring sales progress

Create a support team role and assign a permission set that grants view-only access to pipelines while restricting the ability to add, edit, or delete deals.

Steps to access and manage pipeline permissions

  1. Click on Setup in the left navigation menu (Shortcut Shift + *).
  2. Go to Security > Permission Sets based on how you want to configure access.
  3. Select an existing permission set or create a new one.
  • Under the Access section, select Pipelines dropdown and choose the specific pipeline to give access to and configure the following options under Access Levels settings.
    • View – Allows users to see pipelines but not make changes.
    • Edit – Allows modification of existing pipelines.
    • Delete – Grants the ability to remove pipelines.

The Standard User system permission set includes a toggle option to enable or disable access only in the Pipelines module. In all other modules, the access option appears as Granted but dormant. It cannot be toggled or modified.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Why can’t a user access the pipelines module?

Ensure the user has been assigned a permission set that grants at least view access to pipelines.

How do I allow only sales managers to manage pipelines?

Create a sales manager role and assign it to users who need full control over pipelines. Then, adjust permissions accordingly under permission sets.

Do permission changes affect historical data?

No, permission changes only affect future access. Historical data remains intact and visible based on the user’s current permissions.
