Configuring Taxes
Taxes represent additional charges applied to the price of goods or services, typically mandated by government regulations. In BoldSales, taxes allow you to apply additional charges to products or transactions based on regulatory requirements.
This guide explains how to create taxes, assign them to products, and apply them to line items or sales documents during quoting and deal management.
Note for non-admin users: If you don’t have access to view the Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) features, contact your BoldSales administrator to request the required permission.
Note for administrators: For details on managing CPQ features, refer to Understanding all available permissions in BoldSales
Line item tax
A line item tax is applied to individual products or services within a transaction. Each product added to the pricing table can have its own tax rate.
One-time tax
A one-time tax is applied to the entire pricing table. The tax is calculated on the total amount of the sales document and added as a single charge.
Steps to create a tax
- Go to Setup from the left sidebar.
- Navigate to the Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) section and select Products or search for Products using the search bar.
-
On the Products fields listing page, click the
button at the top to open the tax library.
-
Click
and fill in the following fields:
Name: Enter a descriptive name for the tax (e.g., VAT 18%, Service Tax).
Percentage: Enter a value between 0.00% and 100%. This defines the tax rate.
Type: Select how the tax applies. Click the dropdown to select either Line item, One-time, or Both.
-
Mark as active: Enabled by default. Uncheck it if you want to create an inactive tax.
-
Click Create to save.
The below image illustrates creating a tax.
Note: The Percentage and Type fields cannot be edited after a tax is created. To apply a different value or type, you must create a new tax entry.

Note: You can’t have both line item tax and one-time tax added at the same time.
