Syncing events with external calendars

Keep your meetings and appointments organized by connecting BoldSales with your Google or Outlook calendar. You can create, view, and update events in one place, and both calendars will stay up to date. This guide shows you how to set up syncing options for events through calendar setup.

Aligning BoldSales events with other schedules

A user wants to avoid conflicts between BoldSales events and other commitments. Syncing events to their external calendar allows them to see both in one view and plan accordingly without missing important meetings or deadlines.

Avoiding multiple apps

A user who primarily manages their schedule in Outlook wants BoldSales events to appear in their Outlook calendar. Syncing events ensures they can manage everything from one place without switching between apps, making scheduling more efficient and reducing errors.

Steps to sync events with external calendars

To connect your external calendar,

  • Click on Setup from the left sidebar menu, then navigate to My Profile > Calendar Setup.
  • Alternatively, click your profile icon at the top right of the page and select View profile & settings, then go to the Calendar tab.
  • Connect your Google or Microsoft 365 calendar.

One-way or two-way sync

Choose how your calendar syncs with a connected external calendar. Click Edit under Mode and select your preferred mode.

The following items are ignored while syncing items from external calendar to BoldSales:

  • Private events from external calendar are ignored. Only public events are synced.
  • Recurring events (including the original event) are not synced.
One-way sync

Updates are synced to your external calendar, but changes made outside BoldSales won’t sync back, except for edits to events or tasks originally created in BoldSales.

Two-way sync

Changes in either platform will sync to the other, keeping both platforms fully in sync. So, any update you make in BoldSales or in your external calendar will automatically reflect in both places. This ensures both calendars stay identical and up to date.

Setting up which activity types to sync

You can decide which activity types to sync between BoldSales and your connected external calendar. Click Edit under Activity type and choose one of the following options:

Events only

Select this option if you want to sync only events between BoldSales and your external calendar. This is the simplest option to sync events.

Under this option, events from BoldSales sync to your external calendar as events. Similarly, events from your external calendar sync back into BoldSales as events.

Events and tasks

Select this option if you want both events and tasks to sync. This ensures that all scheduled activities in BoldSales appear in your external calendar and vice versa. You can additionally choose the task types to sync to your external calendar.

Under this option, both tasks and events in BoldSales sync to your external calendar as events. External calendar events sync back into BoldSales as events. External tasks are ignored.

Tasks only

Choose this option to sync only tasks. This option is not effective if your goal is to sync events.

Under this option, tasks in BoldSales sync to your external calendar as events. Events from your external calendar will appear as tasks in BoldSales. External tasks are ignored.
